Japan is at war with itself. At Okehazama, Oda Nobunaga of Owari, rumored to be a fool, spectacularly defeated Imagawa Yoshimoto of Mikawa as he was leading a much larger host than Nobunaga's toward the capital city, Miyako. Nobunaga has decided to take Yoshimoto's place and lead his own forces to Miyako, so he is compelled to ally with the Azai clan in order to suppress Mino, a province lying between Owari and Miyako, by having his younger sister Oichi wed Nagamasa, the Azai clan's sucessor. However, Mino is also the birthplace of Nobunaga's wife, Kichou. Her former retainers and people are in Mino, and Kichou is vehemently opposed to the province's destruction, even if it is now in the hands of an enemy who overthrew her father, Saitou Dousan. But Nobunaga, who has embarked upon his path to conquest, holds to his course.

Former college basketball star Will (Obaka Adedunyo) is struggling to kick his heroin addiction and find a stable job, while Jean (Loretta Devine, Waiting to Exhale), his tough but supportive wife, works hard to keep their household afloat. A renewed sense of purpose arrives in the form of a drug-using, destitute 12-year-old, whom Will takes in and affectionately nicknames Little Brother. Will adopts a mentor role towards the boy in order to incentivise himself to do better, but returning to the straight and narrow path proves fraught with temptation. Trailblazing director Jessie Maple made the film on a shoestring budget of $12,000, shooting on 16mm alongside her husband, cinematographer LeRoy Patton. Maple’s determined DIY ethos even extended to exhibition: for the film’s premiere, she and Patton converted the basement of their Harlem brownstone into a cinema dubbed 20 West, which became a long-running venue used to elevate other Black filmmakers. A boy is accidentally killed at an informal hunt somewhere on the border of two European countries. One of the people involved is Minister Berger, the hot candidate for the influential post of High Commissioner for Water Management, who will be tasked with finding the solution to increasing water shortages across Europe. The government hires secret agent Steiner to hush up the scandal. The more he investigates the case, the more embroiled he becomes in dilemmas of power and its execution.

Being a policeman's doppelganger is a mixed blessing in this action-packed caper.
